Vanderbilt was an American artist, actress, fashion designer, author, heiress and socialite.

Cooper confirmed said Vanderbilt died at home with friends and family at her side.

Her death was announced by her son, CNN anchor and journalist Anderson Cooper.

Cooper went on to share that Vanderbilt was told earlier in June that she had advanced stomach cancer, which had spread. "She was a painter, a writer and designer but also a remarkable mother, wife and friend".

Gloria's aunt, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, who founded the Whitney Museum of American Art, said Gloria's mother was misusing the trust fund on a free-wheeling lifestyle that included a female lover, and went to court. I knew it from the moment I was born and I'll know it for the rest of my life. "We were talking one day and he said, 'Murjani's, they've got all this denim fabric stored away in Hong Kong.' So I said, 'Why don't we make jeans, a really great fit jean?'"

She dated celebrities and declared she would marry Hughes.

"Gloria Vanderbilt was 95 years old when she died". He said that she paused before telling the doctor, "Well, it's like that old song". The marriage to the conductor lasted 10 years and produced two sons, Stanislaus and Christopher. During the closed hearings, Stokowski accused Vanderbilt of spending too much time at parties and too little with the boys. "I always thought of her as a visitor from another world, a traveler stranded here who'd come from a distant star that'd burned out long ago". A court held that the two had looted millions from Vanderbilt's bank accounts. She claimed the board was anxious that black singer Bobby Short, who appeared with her on TV commercials, might marry her.

She later wrote a memoir, "A Mother's Story", in which she reflected on her own painful upbringing and blamed Carter's suicide on psychosis brought on by an anti-asthma drug.

Cooper's voice seemed to catch as he relayed how his mother would tell him "I love you, you know that", noting that he always did "know" and feel her love.

Vanderbilt also challenged racial standards of the times by dating black photographer-filmmaker Gordon Parks in the 1950s. You know how children can be about their parents.
