An employee at a high-end Chicago cocktail bar was questioned by the Secret Service on Tuesday evening after allegedly spitting on Eric Trump, according to local media reports and an interview with another worker at the establishment.

A waitress at The Aviary, 955 W. Fulton Market, in West Town, was taken into custody after she spat on Trump, according to a spokesperson for the Trump Organization.

"We did not witness the incident and we are just beginning to learn the details", the Aviary said in a statement.

Trump, whose Twitter activity indicates he was visiting Trump Hotel Chicago, shared a statement with Breitbart News following the incident, condemning it "purely a disgusting act by somebody who clearly has emotional problems".

"It just emphasizes a sickness and desperation and the fact that we're winning", Trump told Breitbart.

"What is certain is this: no customer should ever be spit upon", the statement said. It said employees have received threats and that fake reviews are being posted about the lounge.

Authorities did not say if they believed the incident was politically motivated.

NBC reporter Mary Ann Ahern first tweeted about the incident Tuesday night, saying Eric Trump was seen leaving The Aviary. It is one of the most lovely buildings in the world!

The Aviary's co-owner, Nick Kokonas, made headlines earlier this year by offering the Clemson Tigers, college football's national champs, "an actual celebration dinner" at his eatery Alinea after the president served the players fast food at the White House.

"CPD was on scene and assisting the United States Secret Service with a law enforcement matter". Eric Trump declined to pursue charges, sources said.

Eric Trump told Breitbart News it a "disgusting act" that demonstrates Democrats lack civility.

Eric Trump did not take to Twitter about the incident, but had tweeted Tuesday night about being in Chicago.
