EA Access PS4 Release Date Announced

Announced last month, the launch on PS4 will bring with it all the games that are now available in the Xbox One Vault that are playable on PS4, so expect the likes of Battlefield V, Need for Speed, Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare and more.

We got word back in May that EA's game subscription service, EA Access, would be coming to PlayStation 4 sometime in July. We now have a confirmed date for the launch.

EA Access is a subscription service that gives players a selection of EA games to download and play, all for one monthly/yearly fee. The subscription costs $5/month of $30/year, and provides subscribers with discounts on EA titles, add-ons, and microtransactions (which is definitely what they are).

One tiny bit of clarification, though. Members can also take advantage of Early Access to EA games: normally, members can play about ten hours before the official release compared to other buyers. If you already have an active membership on Xbox One, you'll need to subscribe separately on PS4.

As of this writing, there are over 50 games included in the EA Access Vault. It's worth highlighting that the subscription will not be combined across platforms though, meaning those who have it on Xbox One but want it on PS4 will have to buy separate subscriptions. It's about time PlayStation finally gets it. EA hasn't updated its website yet. The service, therefore, became Xbox exclusive, in the console environment. So mark July 24 on your calendar, set aside $5, and wait patiently.
