Brian has already suffered a heart attack previously, is now admitted at the Global Hospital in Mumbai's Parel area. Lara, who hasn't been a very public face all these years in the India cricket commentary circuit, had agreed to be it's part given its exclusivity.

Legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara was on Tuesday admitted in a Mumbai hospital after he complained of chest pain.

Sources with direct knowledge of developments told the Times of India: "He was complaining of unease but he's absolutely fine now".

The hospital authorities, so far tight-lipped about why the former player has been admitted, are expected to issue a statement on his condition in some time.

Lara had taken a break of a few days from his TV commitments and was set to resume duties on the eve of India's next World Cup game against West Indies on Thursday (June 27).

"He complained of chest pain and uneasiness this morning and was sent for a routine check-up".

The former batsman is in the country as an analyst for the official broadcasters of the ongoing World Cup.

Officials of Star Sports also arrived at the hospital.

The West Indian great retired from global cricket in 2007.
