An Alabama Ford dealer ran afoul of corporate with its Fourth of July promotion.

The original promotion that Chatom Ford in Chatom, Ala., about an hour north of Mobile, offered customers was a free King James Bible, an American flag and a 12-gauge shotgun with the purchase of a vehicle. "Celebrating July 4th from now until July 31, here at Chatom Ford!"

Moreover, if you want to buy a new, pre-owned or certified pre-owned vehicle from Chatom Ford, you can still do it even if you're not in the market for a shotgun or a Bible.

The video featured all three items, with Palmer holding the shotgun, the American flag draped across the back of a cherry red Ford truck and the Bible sitting atop the tailgate of the vehicle.

Palmer also told the network that the dealership's sales team got the idea for the gifts because they reflect the town's values. "It's a safe community".

To qualify, a buyer must be 18 or older, have valid ID and pass all background checks associated with owning a firearm in Alabama.

"They love their faith, they love their country, and they love to hunt", he said.

Chatom, a town of 1,211, is located in the far west part of the state, 12 miles from the MS state line and an hour north of Mobile.

The dealership released the Facebook video on Friday, June 21 and Palmer said the feedback he's received so far has been positive.

"This is just showing support for our local community", he said. "We respect anybody that disagrees, no matter how vehemently they do".
