Despite multiple complaints of harassment, it had allegedly become so bad on The Chi set that Boone's fiancé, Dear White People actor Marque Richardson, had to come on set when she shot scenes with Mitchell.

Amid reported allegations of inappropriate behavior, Jason Mitchell has been dropped by the Showtime series The Chi, the upcoming Netflix movie Desperados, and his agency and management team.

I hear the dismissal from dramedy Desperados, a Good Universe production for Netflix, came first. In addition, Mitchell will no longer be starring in the Netflix film "Desperados", in which he was set to star opposite Nasim Pedrad, Anna Camp, and Robbie Amell. He's also had roles in the Oscar-nomianted Mudbound, Kong: Skull Island, Kathryn Bigelow's Detroit, and the Fred Armisen and Maya Rudolph dramedy Forever. Waithe, who created the series, has also yet to comment. Waithe praised Mitchell at last year's Television Critics Association winter press tour ahead of the Season 1 premiere, calling him "The Black Tom Hanks". Season 2 spotlights Brandon's ambitious plan for his food truck business. They declined to comment further, however. He was then dropped from UTA and Authentic, and it was announced that he was being dropped from The Chi.

Sources told the outlet that other actresses on The Chi made similar complaints about Mitchell. Deadline reported that it happened away from the set.

Deadline also claimed Jason had previously been investigated over alleged inappropriate behaviour with a female co-star on the show but that had been resolved.
