Marcus Stroman compares Vlad Jr. to Zion Williamson

The A's have won four of their last five road games, which is good news heading into the matchup, and they now lead Major League Baseball in runs and home runs per game.

"Frankly, we weren't quite getting what we were hoping for out of that spot in terms of consistency and we decided to make a change", General Manager Rick Hahn said. Two outs later, Brandon Drury homered to give the Blue Jays a 4-2 win over the A's. "I always feel like I'm one swing away from getting my bat going".

"Just the way I dreamed it", Guerrero said. After grounding out in his first at-bat in the second inning, he hit a towering drive to left that was caught against the wall.

Guerrero Jr. missed the start of the season after an oblique injury in spring training. Ramón Laureano doubled down the first-base line (where a policeman committed fan interference), Profar walked, then Nick Hundley hit a bouncer to short that Sogard picked up and took to the bag himself.

A day after his going 1 for 4 with a ninth-inning double in his major league debut, the 20-year-old Guerrero took a called third strike in the first, lined out in the second, walked leading off the fifth, struck out swinging in the sixth and singled in the eighth on a ball up the middle that shortstop Marcus Semien was unable to handle.

In the second, the Blue Jays added two more, with less drama. You'll have to excuse us for the number of updates we'll have on Vladdy Jr. over the first few weeks even if they aren't awe-inspiring, we're just really excited to see him in the right league.

If I was a betting man, I say the Blue Jays will be ready for a playoff run in 4 years. The exit velocity was 106.8 miles per hour.

Guerrero was born in Montreal and raised in the Dominican Republic. "I just wanted to bring that back today".

Guerrero's famous father watched as his son's batting practice was broadcast live on Sportsnet, the Canadian network operated by team owner Rogers Communications. In the previous two Friday night home games this season, Toronto has averaged just under 18,000 fans.

"Actually, I wanted that ground ball in the first inning to get those butterflies out of the way, but you know it happens in the second inning and I felt very good the rest of the way", Guerrero said after the game.

What did you make of Guerrero Jr.'s debut?

Brett Anderson gave up a season-high six runs in the A's 7-1 loss to the Blue Jays, and Oakland's offense continued to spin its wheels, undone again by a Toronto starter.

Anderson is 0-2 with a 3.72 ERA in three career starts against Toronto. Montoyo said Ureña was sent down because Toronto doesn't believe INF Freddy Galvis (left hamstring) will need to go on the injured list.
