Giants once again make a mockery of themselves with Daniel Jones

Jones was the second quarterback selected behind Oklahoma's Kyler Murray who was the first overall selection by the Arizona Cardinals and in place of Jones, Giant fans wanted the team to either select a top-tier defensive player like Kentucky's Josh Allen or Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins. NY was an obvious fit for Jones, especially given the long relationship with Eli Manning, a fellow protegé of Duke head coach David Cutcliffe.

The 2019 Giants are certainly not equipped to win, and now you have to question whether the 2020 Giants will have a legitimate chance to win with Jones - or 39-year-old Eli Manning if the kid needs more schooling - and with a suspect defense. 17 and 95 picks in the 2019 NFL Draft.

"Maybe we're going to be the Green Bay model where (Aaron) Rodgers sat for three years", Gettleman told reporters. "That's when I was in full-bloom love". You'd be hard pressed to find a single soul who does draft analysis for a living who would even come close to agreeing.

Had Jones gone 11 picks later, the reactions would not have been almost as extreme. NY reporters wouldn't have spent Thursday night into Friday morning finding a new way to roast Gettleman.

General manager Dave Gettleman had other thoughts and took Jones, who threw for 8,201 yards and 52 touchdowns in three years starting for Duke.

"We drafted a quarterback that we believe is a franchise quarterback", Gettleman said of Jones.

Best of luck trying to decode this one, folks. From Duke blue to Big Blue, Jones' NFL career is already off to one hell of a start.
