This morning, Disney dropped the official trailer for Jon Favreau's photorealistic remake of 1994's The Lion King, and this one gives us the best footage yet. Though in the case of The Lion King, it's not quite live-action as the entire film is done in CG animation.

The Lion King is one of 10 movies Disney has slated for release in 2019, which could be the studio's biggest year to date.

Watch the trailer in full below.

While many familiar shots are covered, it's safe to call Scar the star of the new trailer; a different, mangier take than Jeremy Irons' more Shakespearean take, Scar's dialogue makes up the bulk of this trailer.

The trailer also features the first look at popular characters from the 1994 film including Simba's companions meerkat Timon and warthog Pumbaa. Maybe I'm the audience for this after all.

Disney releases The Lion King to theaters on July 19.

Not unlike other recent Disney adaptations like "Jungle Book", "Cinderella" and "Beauty and the Beast", it'll mostly stick to the story of the animated classic: After the murder of his father, a young lion prince flees his kingdom only to learn the true meaning of responsibility and bravery. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba's exile.

The animals of the jungle are computer animated and have been voiced by Donald Glover (Simba), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), John Kani (Rafiki) and Beyoncé (Nala). With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
