Walgreens to start selling CBD creams, patches and sprays

After Curaleaf sent out an announcement of the partnership, CVS confirmed that they have already started selling CBD products in their stores.

CNBC reports Walgreens will sell CBD patches, sprays and creams in nine states: Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, New Mexico, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vermont. "This product offering is in line with our efforts to provide a wider range of accessible health and wellbeing products and services to best meet the needs and preferences of our customers". Market research firm Brightfield Group projects that CBD product sales will reach $22 billion by 2022. CBD products are becoming increasingly mainstream. Ohio-based cannabis company Green Growth Brands announced plans this year to open shops selling CBD-infused beauty products in eight Chicago-area malls.

CBD (Cannabidiol): a substance derived from cannabis plants that does not have psychoactive effects. Any substances that will be added to food or drink or marketed as dietary supplements must first be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for that intended use.

"The floodgates are opening right now for CBD products, with more and more chained retailers beginning to stock the products".

"After a thorough review and analysis, we will be offering certain products containing Cannabidiol (CBD) in almost 1,500 Walgreens stores in select states", Brian Faith, Walgreens spokesman, said in a statement to the Chicago Tribune.
