Bayern Munich jetted to Liverpool for Tuesday's Champions League, last-16 first leg without centre-back Jerome Boateng and hoping French winger Kingsley Coman will be fit. The Bayern coach Niko Kovac told Eurosport: "We will have to see what happened to Kingsley".

Arjen Robben has some unhappy memories of Anfield as Bayern Munich prepare to face Liverpool in the Champions League.

With 65 points, Liverpool are second in the league, level on points with Manchester City but with a game in hand.

The Polish global cemented his status as one of the world's best strikers by scoring all four goals when Real Madrid were routed 4-1 on a golden night in the 2012/13 Champions League.

With Dejan Lovren (hamstring) a doubt and Joe Gomez (broken leg) out, midfielder Fabinho could join Joel Matip in central defence. Mohamed Salah will be the most important player in the attack for the hosts, but the likes of Robert Firmino and Sadio Mane are also unsafe in attack.

Bayern Munich have multiple injury concerns of their own.

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita may not be guaranteed to start next week's clash.

It was short of the Bundesliga's record fastest goal, just nine seconds, shared by Kevin Volland, for Hoffenheim against Bayern in 2015/16, and Karim Bellarabi, for Leverkusen against Dortmund in 2014/15.

Bayern were in no mood to let their second chance slip and after Lewandowski had twice come close, they went in front for the first time on 53 minutes when Coman turned provider, flicking through to Alaba who scored from close range.

"He made a huge impact on my career".

Weaving his magic at other end of the field will be Liverpool's forward Mohammed Salah.

"We were in the final of the Champions League previous year and the mindset will be to go one step further", Hyypia told the Liverpool Echo. Bayern have faced problems against teams that play a counter-attacking style of football, so this could be a tricky test. They last locked horns 18 years ago in the 2001 UEFA Super Cup in Monaco.

"We had said we wanted to defend well and we didn't manage that".

Despite reaching four semi-finals and a quarter-final since 2013, Bayern have not added to their five European Cup wins since Arjen Robben's late victor at Wembley six years ago.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 1.30 AM IST.
