Malek was shown the viral clip during an appearance on Tuesday night's Jimmy Kimmel Live! on US TV and he appeared to find the amusing side of what looked like a rather embarrassing moment.

"I've known her for many years, despite as it may seem from that video", he said.

"I have a feeling this is haunting me on the Internet right now", he said. As he reached the stage to jointly accept the award for best picture (drama), the actor reached out to presenter Kidman with open arms.

When he tried to greet Nicole on stage, she turned her back and he couldn't get her attention. She tweeted, "I've always been a huge Queen fan and I fell in love with the band even more after watching the incredible Bohemian Rhapsody".

"I had not seen that!" he said, after lifting his face from his hands. Rami was seated at a table with Brian and Roger and marvelled at how many celebrities would come up and "fan out" over them during the evening.

"I think they wanted to enjoy it, it was an exceptional night for everybody, but they're used to being rock stars and doing rock star things", he continued.

Later in the show, Kimmel also put his guest on the spot over rumors he'll appear in the next James Bond film as a villain.

"I love you, you handsome man".

But in an editorial that made Kate Stevenson's heart sing this morning - "Oh Karl, I lived for your column this morning" - The Age's national film editor, Karl Quinn says neither movies are particularly impressive films, and he doesn't expect either to win the Oscar. Who knows about that.

"I always thought you were a great actor, until just now", Jimmy responded.
