"Thackeray grossed around Rs 2.75-3 crore nett in Hindi with bulk of the collections coming from the Mumbai circuit", said Box Office India.

The film did see some kind of benefit from the Republic Day holiday though it could have been counter effective as well had the reports and word of mouth not been good.

Kangana Ranaut must be in a celebratory mood, what with the race reviews being showered on her labour of love Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. "India biz. #Hindi #Tamil #Telugu". The film which had a release over 3000 screens has earned about 8 crores on its first day.

Kangana Ranaut plays the titular role of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. While the film got the Republic Day advantage, it has to make sure that its earnings stay in double digits given its Rs 90 crore budget.

Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi clashed with Nawauddin Siddiqui's Thackeray at the box office. Ranaut is gleeful as she shows the men how its done, fencing expertly while running across the backs of horses and onto that of an elephant. The film had also courted several controversies over the alleged portrayal of Laxmibai followed by Sonu Sood refusing to reshoot his scenes, as requested by Kangana, who co-directed the film with Krish. All set to cross ₹ 150 cr by Sun [Day 17].
