LAS VEGAS-LG showed off some eye-catching new TVs at CES 2019, starting with an ultra-thin, rollable display that pops up and vanishes with the push of a button.

The rollable TV called Signature Oled TV R was unveiled a year ago as a concept and looks like a huge sound bar that has the TV rolled out on its top.

The rollable OLED TV is a game-changer for a variety of reasons. LG says the screen can roll up and roll down for about 50,000 times without causing any damage.

South Korean chaebol LG unveiled a rollable Oled TV during its press conference on Monday (Jan 7), a day before the start of the world's largest consumer electronics show, CES 2019.

Turned off, the OLED TV R looks like a coffee table, or an empty TV stand.

The OLED R can be used in two other modes as well as in its full-screen position - a Line View where the TV only peeks above its base and can be used to show the time or weather information, or the Zero View, where the screen is completely hidden but the soundbar can still be used as a music device. We'll see how the three new TV models are received later this year. The aim of the LG Signature OLED TV R is to provide customers with an advanced digital entertainment device that takes up minimal space. In addition, all 2019 LG TV will make use of LG's α9 Gen 2 processor to offer enhanced picture and sound by analysing the content source and the ambient conditions around the TV to deliver more optimised content. The Smart TV from LG comes loaded with Amazon Alexa voice assistant and it also supports Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. The 2019 OLED and Nanocell LCD TVs also support the WISA speaker standard, letting users build their own wireless surround sound systems with an adapter.
