Vanessa Marquez, 49, a former actress was shot and killed by police in South Pasadena, CA on August 30.

Three officers and a mental health care worker who was summoned to the scene spent 90 minutes trying to administer aid to her, during which time Marquez was allegedly 'extremely uncooperative'.

The actress was struck at least once in the torso, local media The South Pasadenan reported.

The Sheriff's Homicide Bureau has launched an investigation into her death.

Marquez had played nurse Wendy Goldman in the first several seasons of the NBC hit medical drama series "ER".

In addition to ER, Marquez appeared in the 1992 episode Seinfeld "The Cheever Letters" and in three episodes of the Bryan Cranston starring sitcom Malcolm in the Middle in 1999. She later claimed that she was blacklisted from the industry by then-star George Clooney, who she accused of racial discrimination and sexual harassment.

The accusation was in response to a story about Clooney speaking out about alleged serial sex predator Harvey Weinstein.

"Clooney helped blacklist me when I spoke up about harassment on ER.'women who don't play the game lose career.' I did", she tweeted from her currently-suspended account. Marquez was 49 years old. Apparently when police arrived at her apartment she was mid-seizure. If she told I was involved in any decision about her career then she was lied to.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident, as is protocol for all police-involved shootings, according to the report.

"I take her at her word", he told US Weekly in 2017.

Police say Marquez was holding what was later identified as a "BB-type" toy gun, which caused officers to open fire on her. An online tribute to Marquez said that she was a member of the TCM Party, a classic movie fan club.

According to her IMDB acting page, Marquez had 23 professional credits to her name. Stand And Deliver was nominated for one Academy Award, with Edward James Olmos nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
