Colin Jost & Michael Che Named Hosts of 70th Primetime Emmy Awards

Live from the Emmys, it's Colin Jost and Michael Che! Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" anchors are set to host the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards on NBC. Wow, how is that a fact? "SNL" creator and executive producer, Lorne Michaels will produce the telecast. The two have since been the face of the "Weekend Update" segment and were recently appointed as two of the head writers for the show. NBC clearly hopes SNL's recently resurgent success will draw in new Emmy viewers.

"SNL" stars and New York City natives Colin Jost and Michael Che will host the Emmys in September, NBC announced on Thursday.

With Jost and Che, NBC continues the tradition of tapping its late-night hosts as Emmy emcees.

The Emmys will air live from the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Monday, Sept. 17 from 8-11 PM Eastern. More recent choices have included Seth Meyers (2014), Jimmy Fallon (2010) and Conan O'Brien (2002 and 2006).

The Emmy ceremony rotates from the major broadcast networks, allowing them to use the host's job to highlight a show or performers. "They have an fantastic onscreen rapport and we are delighted to begin working with them along with the entire NBC team". This is the show's #2 most-watched season at this point in 23 years.
