"Trump always has a problem with the Academy Awards", he continued, "which is surprising because I really think he would really like the Best Picture victor, The Shape of Water".

In a parody of the Chief-In-Command's original tweet, Kimmel stated, "Thanks, lowest rated President in HISTORY". Problem is, we don't have stars anymore - except your President (just kidding!)' He's not narcissistic.

Trump tweeted: "Lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY". He later added that his tweeted response garnered more "likes" on the social media platform, a statement meant to irk the president and "get under his orange skin".

Popular chat show host Jimmy Kimmel has slammed US President Donald Trump over his tweet on Oscars ratings.

Kimmel's joke came hours after adult film star Stormy Daniels sued Trump claiming the non-disclosure agreement they reached after their alleged affair is not valid because Trump never signed it. I woke up, I brushed my teeth, I looked at my phone and I got a text that said, "Look at Trump's Twitter account" - as if I wasn't going to do that any anyway.

"Trump loves saying the ratings are down as if to insinuate that's some sort of show of support for him, but the truth is, every year since Netflix happened, the ratings for every big TV show are down - Super Bowl, Grammys, Emmys, Golden Globes", Kimmel said.

Trump said the "problem" with the Oscars' ratings was that he was the only "star" nowadays. Kimmel, while referencing the movie Call Me By Your Name, said their objective is not to make money but to make fun of people like Mike Pence.

"Basically, it's like his life's story", he joked of Trump.
