Kate, 36, who is seven months pregnant with her third child, looked as stylish as ever as she stepped out in a forest green Dolce & Gabbana coat during a visit to Sunderland on Wednesday.

Kicking things off at the Fire Station, the couple explored the newly converted music and arts hub housed in one of the city's most iconic buildings.

While few said the Royals tend to stay away from making political statements, some social media users said the Duchess of Cambridge could have taken a stand as the fight to eliminate the assault and bad treatment of women in the workplace is a generic, worldwide issue.

Shajida Begum, 18 was the young girl who drew the henna art on the Duchess. "She looked absolutely handsome and I'm so happy for them that she's pregnant again", she said.

Henna tattoos, typically brown and derived exclusively from plants, are safe to use during pregnancy.

The young girl added, 'She was saying it was really pretty'. "I was telling her when she can wash it off - I said "when it becomes flakey".

She used two hands to work the wrench and was also given a polite round of applause when she completed the task.

William and Kate marvel at a new bridge in Sunderland.

Some have speculated that she did give a subtle nod to the Time's Up movement by wearing a black ribbon around her waist and carrying a black Prada clutch.

The 1,550-tonne pylon structure is the second part of the Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor - a five-phase plan to improve links between the A19 and Sunderland city centre and the Port of Sunderland.

From there, the couple made their way to Northern Spire Bridge with Kate donning a hard hat at the construction sight.

The Northern Spire will help reduce congestion around the city, speed up auto journeys and allow land along both sides of the River Wear to be regenerated and developed.
