Despite predictions of revenue moderation, GTA V and GTA Online are still breaking records four years into their life cycles.

Ahmad also shared news about Grand Theft Auto 5's impact on the GTA series in general, tweeting that the franchise has sold 275 million units worldwide.

Remember that these are shipments and not direct sales (sell-in is shipped, sell-through is sold to consumers), but it's nonetheless an impressive number.

After participating in the presentation of the recent financial report of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of the company, was questioned about the success of his microtransactions models in titles such as National Basketball Association 2K18 and Grand Theft Auto Online.

Between GTA Online and National Basketball Association 2K18, Take-Two observed new heights for "recurrent consumer spending".

All new content and gameplay created since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online, including an extensive array of new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations will also be available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC with much more to come. The game reportedly sold five million copies between May and November, and then shifted another five million over the holidays.

The news comes as Rockstar owners Take-Two Interactive reported their financial results, where they revealed that GTA Online was still their biggest source of income.

Rockstar continues to have zero reason to make GTA VI, as they promise Red Dead Redemption II won't be delayed again.

"Although it was launched over four years ago, during 2017 was the number three selling game in units and number six selling game in revenue based on combined USA digital and physical sales across PC, console and portable, according to the NPD Group".
