West Ham striker wants out as World Cup approaches

Fellow striker Javier Hernandez, also linked with a move away from West Ham, was also left out of the squad to face Shrewsbury but again Moyes pointed to problems with fitness.

West Ham's change of manager from Slaven Bilic to Moyes on November 7 has stagnated 29-year-old Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez's progress at the club.

That has led Chelsea to state their interest in a potential permanent deal for Carroll, who missed Tuesday night's FA Cup third-round replay against Shrewsbury Town with an ankle injury.

"At the moment Andy Carroll is one of my squad", he added. "I don't think we have had any offers, in terms of taking him on loan, and I don't think the club would entertain him going out on loan. There's been a lot of rumours regarding a loan but as far as I know it's not officially come from Chelsea". West Ham United manager David Moyes preferred to use Marko Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini in what resembled a 5-3-2 formation, despite neither Arnautovic nor Lanzini being recognized center-forwards.

Irvine, however, insists the east London club, up to 11th in the Premier League following a run of four unbeaten matches, do not want to sell.

They finally scored on 112 minutes when the Shrews failed to fully clear a corner and Martinez's ball back in dropped to Burke who smashed a half-volley into the net off the underside of the crossbar.

"They've not made contact with me".

"We have such a thin squad that we can't really afford to lose any players".
