Meet Micromax Bharat 5, the Rs 5555 Competitor to Xiaomi Redmi 5A

Micromax has no intention to end the "power of 5" with just Bharat 5 smartphone. Micromax Bharat 5 consumers using Vodafone will get 50 GB of free data.

Running Android Nougat with MIUI 9 on top, the Redmi 5A comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, PDAF and f/2.2 aperture along with a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture.

Vodafone and Indian smartphone maker Micromax today entered into a partnership to offer cashback of up to Rs. 2200 to their customers. Khosla added that they have launched an affordable smartphone at Rs. 999 in collaboration with Micromax. Micromax's new smartphone is believed to give a tough competition to newly-unveiled Xiaomi Redmi 5A which was launched on Thursday at an affordable price of Rs 4,999 and Rs 6,999.

Previously, the company partnered with Vodafone and BSNL to launch Bharat 2 Ultra and Bharat 1 4G feature phone in India.

The device is rated to deliver up to 2 days of battery life and a standby time of up to 3 weeks respectively. Both cameras have support of LED Flash. Apparently, the battery is a major deciding factor in the budget smartphone market, and it's nice to see that Micromax has got it right. The device is priced at Rs 5,555 and will be available via offline retailers in the country. It goes on sale starting Tuesday December 5 and will be available only in a Black colours option.

Xiaomi is selling the base model of Redmi 5A (2GB RAM + 16GB built-in storage) at an introductory price of Rs 4,999.

The Micromax Bharat 5 sports a 5.2-inch HD display with no mentioning of the protective layer. The Bharat 5 runs Android Nougat out of the box.

The low-priced smartphone from Micromax comes in a polycarbonate shell. The battery of the phone is also the biggest highlight of the Bharat 5 smartphone.

It supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and micro USB connectivity.
