Jose Mourinho Criticizes His Team's Lack Of Creativity

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has accused Henrikh Mkhitaryan of "disappearing" during games and demanded improvement from him.

Mkhitaryan had a tough start to his United career and did not start a Premier League game in nearly three months after being substituted at half-time in the defeat to Manchester City last September.

Mkhitaryan has been omitted from United's squads during the past two games against Newcastle United and Basel.

"I was not happy with his last performances", Mourinho said.

The Frenchman has started three games in a week since making his return from a two-month layoff, lasting the full 90 minutes of the 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

This season the former AS Monaco man has found himself in a much richer vein of form, scoring seven goals and getting four assists already.

"That was enough [to drop him] because the others worked to have a chance".

Such criticism of creative attacking players have become a theme of Mourinho's management over recent years.

Marcus [Rashford] and [Anthony] Martial are without the tactical knowledge that an older player has to close the spaces in between the full-back and the number six, so with Paul we were losing control a bit. Good approach, defensively very well organised. "They have a good coach, and I think they've improved a lot from last season too". They have different kinds of qualities. But we've got to know each other, we talk a lot more and now it's better. We had unbelievable chances a couple of days ago [against Basel in the Champions League] and we couldn't score, today we did it.
