In it, Dumbledore and Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne) must thwart Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald's (Johnny Depp) plans to create the New Wizarding Order.

The first Fantastic Beasts film came out previous year and won an Oscar for best costume design, making it the first of Rowling's Wizarding World films to win an Academy Award.

An official announcement via Twitter revealed that "Fantastic Beasts 2" is called: "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" - and that likely spells some tough times for Newt Scamander and his newfound American pals.

The spin-off started as a small volume of books released for the Comic Relief charity but it is now a film franchise - Rowling has said she is planning a total of five Fantastic Beasts movies.

For a lot of Potterheads, the Fantastic Beasts series has served as a good way to get back to JK Rowling's magical world. However, as he promised he would, Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause-elevating wizards above all non-magical beings.

Warner Bros. shared the title and a first cast photo on social media Thursday, exactly a year ahead of the movie's release in November 2018. Law is among the newcomers who will be making their entrance in the second installment, as he will be portraying the young Albus Dumbledore. As Potterheads know, the two powerful wizards were once best friends (with Albus even falling in love with Gellert) before Grindelwald turned to the dark side.

"FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD" is being directed by David Yates, from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling, and produced by David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.
