Fans of the show quickly took to Twitter to address the scenes, with many praising Dec for joking about a serious topic and inspiring others to realise that no one is alone.

McPartlin is married to his long-time partner Lisa Armstrong.

Ant McPartlin, with the help of his good friend Dec, didn't shy away from addressing his personal struggles with addiction and perfectly demonstrated how to deal with them without shame.

In what was one of the best TV moments of 2017, Ant then said "I was always going to make it!"

The latest series of I'm A Celebrity has kicked off, with Dec Donnelly joking Ant McPartlin had been replaced by another host.

"Wait, no! Guys that's the wrong script!"

The presenter, 42, who celebrated his birthday over the weekend, tweeted to fans: "Aaaaaaannnddd, we're off!"

A source told The Mirror: 'The last couple of months have been about him getting back to the Ant people know and love, and he has been exercising the knee, eating more healthily and drinking a lot less'.

"We're here for the next three weeks", Dec started. You have put the wrong script on the screen", turning to Ant he added: "Nobody was sure if you would make it or not.

Together, Ant and Dec made light of his time in rehab - and the consequent speculation that Ant might not be healthy enough to return to Australia and host the ITV reality show.

The pair later referenced the issue once again, with Dec jokingly asking Ant "Where have you been all summer?!" What were you doing?'

"Just stuff, I was dead busy".

The launch marked Ant's much-anticipated return to TV screens, following his stint in rehab over the summer.
