A Republican senator is already raising doubts that Donald Trump can even win the Republican Party's nomination for president in 2020.

Jackson pressed her again: 'He is running for re-election.

After Donald Trump's now-infamous rationalization of white supremacists at the deadly "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Va., why haven't elected Republicans en masse directly and publically rebuked him?

"Well, I didn't support the President when he was our party's nominee". She tweeted that the email's goal was to provide reporters with "research on Trump's lies" and noted that DNC chair Tom Perez earlier this month said a massive border wall along the southern border of the USA is "ludicrous" and a waste of tax dollars.

'I'd never taken it before.

"Unfortunately he wavered back and forth", Collins said.

COLLINS: Well, I didn't support the president when he was our party's nominee. Instead I wrote in the name of Paul Ryan, and that was very hard for me to do as a life-long Republican'.

"It's far too hard to tell now", Collins told MSNBC's Hallie Jackson during an interview in Bangor, Maine, on Monday. I know that a lot of people in this community are Republicans and are not racists. When Barack Obama was president, she was the sole member of the GOP to vote against a series of show votes that party leaders held to repeal Obama's signature achievement, knowing that he would not sign them.

It is highly unusual, if not unprecedented, for a president to be in this precarious of a position after only seven months in office.
