Patriots' Edelman Looks to Have Suffered Torn ACL, Out for Season

While nobody knows Edelman's extent of the injury, the team fears that it is an ACL tear.

This is a huge blow to the Patriots, as Edelman is one of their best players and a key member of the offense.

The New England Patriots offense did not fare well without Julian Edelman during the 2015 season.

"We're all hoping for the best", Pats quarterback Tom Brady said after the 30-28 victory. Thus, it would be an overstatement to say Edelman is the sole factor in Brady's decline during that season. In 2016, he scored 1106 yards and three touchdowns on 98 receptions.

Suffice it to say Edelman is one of the Patriots' most important skill players. Luckily for the Patriots, they were able to acquire Brandin Cooks in the offseason.

We will update you on the result of the Edelman's injury.

All will get plenty of opportunities, with Hogan and Amendola being the most natural for slot work.

The Patriots have gone through losing star players before, but the only time it affected their almost annual playoff status was when they lost potential greatest of all time quarterback Tom Brady. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Patriots use more two-running-back sets this season. But when Edelman went down with an injury, Brady threw for 246.7 yards per game, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions by completing 59.4 percent of his passes in the seven games that followed. Edelman, at 31-years-old, will now look to bounce back in the 2018 season. It gets back Rob Gronkowski, the NFL's most-feared tight end, from a back injury, and has Chris Hogan, who emerged past year as a quality wideout.
