According toThe Hollywood Reporter, Shazam! may start principal photography sometime in January or February 2018. Yes, the next DC Films movie will be Shazam!

Johnson told MTV back in April that plans had changed regarding the introduction of Shazam and Black Adam in the same movie. Sandberg (Lights Out) has signed on to helm the film after he releases Annabelle: Creation later this year and he'll reunite with producer Peter Safran who has worked on Aquaman and the Annabelle sequel. We're still waiting on films like Batgirl, Green Lantern Corps., The Flash, and Gotham City Sirens; Suicide Squad 2 is also aiming to start production mid-2018.

The Shazam movie will not feature Dwayne Johnson, who is set to play Black Adam in his own DC movie down the line. One potential replacement villain could be Doctor Sivana, who made his debut with the hero in Whiz Comics #2 in 1940. The sequel for the successful Wonder Woman movie is happening of course but it's still just in the planning stages. Created by C.C. Beck and writer Bill Parker, the character was first published by Fawcett Comics. By saying the world "Shazam", teenager Billy Batson was transformed into the "world's mightiest mortal" and given extraordinary abilities by ancient gods.

"What we chose to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his stand-alone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his stand-alone movie", he told MTV.
