The Douglas County Coroner's Office will formally identify the body to confirm whether it is Huner's son.

- A Colorado man shot his son to death Saturday night after allegedly mistaking the man for an intruder, police said. "Now saying it's his son, and he's dead", the dispatcher said during the call.

Douglas County Sheriff's deputies were called to the home on Elk Canyon Court around 10:15 p.m. Saturday.

A Colorado man is facing charges after he says he shot and killed his son.

Investigators confirmed the person who was shot was later pronounced deceased.

Huner was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, but officials with the sheriff's office say that could change as they continue to investigate.

Business records show Frank Huner owns an automotive and transmission fix business in Denver that he's run for 33 years.

Douglas Douglas County Sheriff spokeswoman Lauren Lekander tells PEOPLE Huner has been released from custody after posting $50,000 bond.
