Luckily, that's not the case, and our first look at Pacific Rim: Uprising has arrived.

Guillermo del Toro's 2013 kaiju vs. robots movie Pacific Rim had a reported $190 million budget, but only earned $101 million at the domestic box office.

Boyega's Pentecost looks to be the new hotshot Jaeger pilot in Pacific Rim: Uprising, and we can't wait to see him in action.

Directed by Steven S. DeKnight and written by Guillermo del Toro, Zak Penn, Jon Spaihts, Derek Connolly, Emily Carmichael, Kira Snyder and T.S. Nowlin, "Pacific Rim: Uprising" is scheduled to hit theaters on February 23, 2018. Looks like Boyega is piloting the new Gipsy Avenger, but we still aren't sure if that's a repurposed version of the first film's Gipsy Danger or if it's a brand new upgraded model that used Danger as an inspiration for its design.

The video points fans to a new in-universe website,, which features a ton of new information about the Jaegers, including blueprints of several brand-new ones.

The Last Jedi star John Boyega plays Jake Pentecost - son of Idris Elba's character from the first film.

Alongside the teaser somes the message, 'A new generation of Jaeger Pilots will stand tall for all humanity. Since Legendary is getting the ball rolling on promoting the film with this viral site, it may not be long before we get a Pacific Rim: Uprising trailer. Scott Eastwood co-stars as Nate Lambert, along with Cailee Spaeny as Amara and Jing Tian asLiewn Shao, with Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, and Burn Gorman returning from the original film.
