The original Accountant starred Affleck as Christian Wolff, an CPA with autism who moonlights as a forensic accountant and sometimes hitman for notorious crime lords and shadowy organizations.

The film featured a bit of a twist as Affleck's character secretly kept the books for some of the world's most risky criminal organizations and got himself into a bit of trouble when a new client puts him in danger.

It's expected that a sequel would likely include Bernthal, too, due to the shocking revelation during the original film's conclusion (spoilers!).

Ben Affleck is in talks to return for a sequel to Warner Bros.' guns-and-spreadsheets action flick "The Accountant", a person familiar with the project told TheWrap. After the deals are finalized, the story will be mapped out. With the estranged brothers now reunited, it seemed as though the story had plenty of room to expand - and now we know that it will.

Director Gavin O' Connor and Screenwriter Bill Dubuque are also in talks to return along with producers Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams for the untitled sequel.

Speaking with CS shortly before the original film's release, O'Connor was optimistic about the chances for an Accountant sequel. But thankfully, that won't be the case here.

As Collider reports, while most discussions about Ben Affleck these days revolves around his work as part of the DCEU and his portrayal of Batman, it looks like there may be more of The Accountant in his future.
