Shruti Haasan's next release Behen Hogi Teri is up for release next month, and the makers are planning to have a special screening for Shruti's father Kamal Haasan in Chennai.

But the actress's spokesperson told Mirror that she had to walk out of the film despite having begun extensive prep for the part.

In a major blow to the career of Shruti Haasan, she has been expelled from the mega Tamil-Telugu-Hindi project "Sangamithra".

The announcement has come as a surprise to movie enthusiasts. So what happened in this past week that made the actress leave the film is a matter of conjecture, until someone from the team throws more light on the issue.

An official statement from Shruti Haasan arrived later: "Shruti has had to unfortunately take a call to not be a part of Sangamithra. Knowing it was a massive undertaking and a long commitment spanning two years, it was important for her to know those details".

In a recent interview with PTI, the actress had said her role in Sangamithra was going to be "physically very demanding for me". "Due to unavoidable circumstances, we are unable to proceed working with Shruti Haasan in Sangamithra", they posted. It is challenging, something that I have never done before. The movie is announced as Rs 350 Cr budgeted multi-lingual project. In the first part of Baahubali, we have seen her showing her fighting skills and giving powerful dialogues. The film also has Jayam Ravi and Arya playing important roles. With Shruti opting out, the filmmakers are scouting for a suitable heroine to replace her.
