Gareth Bale says he is not interested in speculation linking him with a move away from Real Madrid in the transfer window.

The Champions League final won by 4-1 by Real Madrid against Juventus was watched not only by million people all over the World but also by the tennis world.

But Bale was reduced to the role of bit-part player after recent injury problems, sent on only for the final 13 minutes at the National Stadium of Wales with the game already won.

As a player, he was in two consecutive Champions League finals with Juventus, losing both times, including to Madrid in 1998. But the 27-year-old says he is determined to remain in Madrid and add to his impressive trophy collection at the Bernabeu.

"My contract? I hope to renew soon and there's no better place to play football than Madrid". It justifies why I came here, it's great to be part of that and I want it to continue. "We are winning trophies and I am happy". He finally won the Champions League as a Madrid player in 2002, scoring an incredible volley in the final against Bayer Leverkusen in Glasgow, Scotland.

"All we can keep doing is keep working hard and hopefully there will be more to come". It didn't seem like I was going to make it to the final but I've worked tirelessly at home and it's the reward you get for all the hard work you've put in.

"The city have done an immaculate job in hosting such a great event and we thank everyone for that".

Bale now plans to return to full fitness over the summer after a mixed 12 months.

For Manchester United, Bale long predates their pursuit of Griezmann, having tried to sign the Welsh worldwide when he first moved to Madrid in 2013.

This time, Zidane was a spectator on the Madrid sidelines, but enjoying it just as much.

"There is scar tissue and all that and it takes time to get rid of it".

"I think we just had to go for it", Bale said of their performance after the break. I'd only been training for five days with the team - I was really lucky to be involved, to be honest. "I'll be cheering on the boys but I need to go on holiday and rest, and come back stronger next season".
