A hole-in-one at the par-three 11th moved her to eight under, but she made bogey on two of the final seven holes.

Sung Hyun Park has said one of her goals this season on the LPGA Tour is to win the Rookie of the Year award.

The 29-year-old sits alongside compatriot Ryu So-yeon and America's Ally McDonald.

Local favorite Stacy Lewis and 56-year-old Juli Inkster were at 66 along with Felicity Johnson, Moriya Jutanugarn, and Katherine Kirk. I hit a good shot into there.

"As soon as I hit it, I thought, 'Oh, it's got a chance, '" Reid said.

Reid hit a hole-in-one on the par-3 11th hole when she hit the ball just past the flag before it spun back and rolled into the hole.

Reid, who missed the cut in her last three tournaments, birdied five of her first seven holes.

Michelle Wie, with her second consecutive 68 finished at six-under par in a tie for 10th place, while world number two Lydia Ko was in a group of eight players tied for 20th place after a second round 67 left her at five-under par.

Ryu opened the year with eight straight top-10 finishes, including the major victory. Ryu took some time off after missing the cut in her last start at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, ending the longest running active cut streak on Tour dating back to 2014. "So I try not to just not think about the draw too much".

Ryu played bogey-free golf while notching six birdies. A practice round with Nick Price also gave her an extra boost in confidence. "I think the putts on 1 and 2 are what calmed me down".

She entered the tournament fourth in the LPGA Tour in driving distance, and she lived up to that Friday, booming 290-yard drives on the 7,001-yard course.

"I had two weeks off and was really fresh to play", Ryu said. McDonald finished with seven birdies and a bogey while playing in front of her parents, grandparents and several family friends. A stronger wind greeted them after the delay, something players in the morning draw didn't experience as they played under more humid conditions.
