Just this week, during one such no-camera briefing, Spicer indicated that the Trump administration would not be answering any more questions about the probe into their ties to Russian Federation during the presidential campaign previous year.

The president's personal vulnerability was confirmed when Trump saw fit to retain a personal lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, to represent him in the independent counsel's inquiry.

Andrew McCarthy, contributing editor at the National Review has said that even though opponents of President Trump, mostly liberals, have been overjoyed at the report by the Washington Post claiming Jared Kushner asked for a Russian back-channel, they completely missed the fact that it blew up their absolute favorite conspiracy theory.

In addition to those four subpoenas, the committee has issued three others - to the National Security Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the CIA - for information about requests that government officials made to "unmask" the identities of USA individuals named in classified intelligence reports, according to a congressional aide.

Kushner is under FBI scrutiny in connection with the investigation into Russia-Trump campaign connections. Democrats thought all the officials were "hopeless as administration spokespersons", though opinions on Pence were more divided among Democrats than the other administration officials.

The New York Times reported last month that the Beijing-based immigration company Qiaowai had allegedly told clients that it was working on behalf of Kushner Companies and that Trump would ensure that their EB-5 visas were approved.

White House communications director Michael Dubke announced his resignation this week and, amid reports of an imminent shake up, there has been much speculation about Spicer's future as press secretary.

"They have talked to many people, including me", Bossie said.

As the allegations gain specificity, Trump's supporters on Capitol Hill have begun to recalibrate their loyalties to the White House.

McCain continued, "And I think that [former FBI Director James] Comey, we know, took action that he did in regards to then-candidate [Hillary] Clinton because of some false news that was being put out by the Russians". VEB confirmed the meeting with Kushner in a statement to CNN, though described Kushner in his role as head of Kushner Companies, not as a representative of Trump.

The Senate Committee, which is also seeking Trump campaign records, will hear public testimony from Comey about Trump's efforts to derail the FBI investigation. Read the full story here. And Kushner was still a private citizen, not yet a government official.
