The film is now set to star Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, The Witch) as Magik, Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones, Doctor Who) as Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things, Shut In) as Cannonball, and Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as Sunspot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, fan-favorite New Mutant character Danielle "Dani" Moonstar will be joining the roster, and actress Blu Hunt (The Originals, This Is It) will be playing the Cheyenne-born hero. Rosario Dawson has been in negotiations. The plot is rumored to involve five teenage mutants held in a secret facility trying to get a handle on their risky powers.

Taylor-Joy will play Illyana Rasputin, code-named Magik, a girl who has learned sorcery and uses teleportation discs to travel. Williams will portray Rahne Sinclair, aka Wolfsbane, Heaton is playing portraying Sam Guthrie, aka Cannonball, and Zaga is playing Sunspot.

"Fox/Marvel redefines the superhero genre once again with the horror thriller, The New Mutants". Known for being fiercely loyal to his teammates, if also the most hot-headed and impulsive among them, the casting of Zaga as the Sunspot character only further cements the young adult vibe of Boone's X-Men spinoff in general.

The last role to be filled was Moonstar, a character who is Native American and who has the power to create illusions drawn from the fears and desires of a person's mind. The studio is said to have made casting an authentic Native American in the part a priority, as Moonstar will apparently play a pivotal-if-not-central role in the plot, inspired by the "Demon Bear" arc in the comics.

New Mutants will be writen/directed by Josh Boone, and is set for a 2018 release through 20th Century FOX.

Hunt is additionally repped by Brett Cates at Rothman/Andres Entertainment.
