Lyon Close On Bertrand Giving Arsenal Lacazette Hope

Jean-Michel Aulas validated Collection have sent a bid for the 26-year-old France global, that racked up 28 Ligue 1 goals for Lyon last period.

Lacazette progressed through the ranks at Lyon before making the senior cut in 2010.

Lacazette had been lined up as a replacement for Antoine Griezmann at Madrid this summer but, with their transfer ban now upheld until next January, that move can not take place during this summer transfer window.

The player himself claimed last season that he'd only join a team that's qualified for the Champions League, so if he were to sign for the Gunners, he'd have to accept at least a year outside the competition. Arsenal may only be in the Europa League next season but they could provide him with an excellent platform to take his career up a notch. Thus, Lacazette has reportedly been identified as a player who can become the prolific goalscorer that the Frenchman has been looking for.

While Lacazette is also a back-up option for Chelsea if their move for Romelu Lukaku fails.

The report adds that while Arsenal remain the front-runners in the race to sign the France worldwide, Manchester United have also been in touch with his representatives over a possible transfer.

He is one of the alternatives Chelsea have in mind should they fail to sign Lukaku and even Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Lacazette as they also want to add a versatile forward to their squad.

However, he has always stated he wants to play for a club in the UCL.

According to French publication L'Equipe*, Liverpool are "focused on signing Lacazette".
