The film will focus on Sophie Turner's Jean Grey in an adaptation of the "Dark Phoenix saga", a celebrated and influential X-Men comics storyline written by Chris Claremont and drawn by Dave Cocktum and John Byrne. If newbie director (and longtime franchise producer) Simon Kinberg should take any piece of advice from fans over the way Dark Phoenix should unfold, it's this: make better use of Quicksilver.

The actor previously played Peter Maximoff, otherwise known as Quicksilver in the two most recent X-Men offerings, X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult will be returning in their roles as Mystique, Magneto, Charlex Xavier, and Beast. Now the final member of that team is confirmed to be returning for Dark Phoenix: Quicksilver.

Additionally, the same article reported that Lamar Johnson has also joined the film.

Johnson's character is being kept under wraps. Though while his "big scene" in X-Men: Apocalypse upped the comedic ante, it came at a very odd time in the film, bookended by Alex Summers dying on one end, and nuclear weapons being launched worldwide on the other.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix chronicles psychic mutant Jean Grey's transformation into the risky, all-powerful being, Phoenix. When "Apocalypse" ended, Professor X has assembled together his first official X-Men team to keep the world safe for both mutants and humans. However, the X-Men movies have shown a knack for utilizing a high number of prominent characters in the past, so it shouldn't be much of an issue.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set to hit theaters November 2, 2018.
