Jordan Spieth Shoots 63 to Take Lead in Travelers Debut

Day is the fourth-ranked player in the world and is the 2015 PGA Championship victor. The past seven tournaments on the PGA Tour have had a cut that was over par. But there's not really much adjustment as far as playing.

Scotland's Russell Knox, who won last year's event, finished the first round tied for 51st at 1-under. However, the common denominator is that they have all been excellent at their approach shots.

It's not even about how he putts, he said. He ranks 163rd on tour in Round 4 Scoring Average while sitting 64th in Tournament Scoring Average. "It was universal, really, all positive comments from every player I asked".

Tour unknown Brett Stegmaier claimed the key to his success in yesterday's opening round of the Travelers Championship was low expectations. "So my expectations may have been a bit lowered, which helps you putt better".

"I started thinking about (coming to Cromwell) a month back, maybe?" Watson is a guy that tends to do very well at certain courses.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy are both listed as 10/1 favorites. 22/1) - Casey is on a tear of late, having made 15 of 16 cuts on the season and 12 straight.

"Heck no, I dominated", Knox said with tongue firmly planted in cheek when asked what it felt like to share the spotlight with Furyk.

On Thursday morning, the star-studded lineup finally gets to kick things off at TPC River Highlands.

Then there's six players who finished inside the top 10 at the U.S. Open last week at Erin Hills: Brian Harman (who tied for second), Xander Schauffele (tied for fifth), Charley Hoffman (eighth) and Trey Mullinax, Justin Thomas and Brandt Snedeker (who all tied for ninth). "The course changes significantly as the day goes on, particularly the firmness of the greens, and I think players like that". His price is inflated and he doesn't have a good track record here, but all of the stats line up. I wasn't able to get into any rhythm.

Hoffman is my "just too cheap" play for this week.

"I could have made a lot more birdies than I did but a 67 is still a decent start and it is nice to see a few red numbers there on the card".

"All the balls I should've hit, I just haven't hit because of what happened earlier in the year", Day said.

"I haven't played almost as good as I expected to".

McIlroy has played just a handful of tournaments this year after battling through a rib injury, which he said was not a factor in him missing the cut at Erin Hills after shooting an ugly first-round 78. "But at the same time, I nearly expected it (a dip) coming off last year, my best year as a pro by a long way", Knox, who will tee off with twice Travelers victor Bubba Watson and Australian Marc Leishman in Thursday's opening round, told reporters. Webb is never highly owned, so I will continue to ride him as long as that trend remains. Garrigus has missed five straight cuts and is just four for eight here at TPC River Highlands, but he did put together a consistent T5 finish (67, 67, 68, 67) previous year. And I didn't play great for a few weeks.
