The 21-year-old feels he made the correct decision to go to Spain last season following the advice of Jose Mourinho and has returned to Manchester a much better player.

Smalling was reduced to 29 starts across United's various competitions, with the most injury-hit campaign of his career leading to frustration both on the part of the player and his manager. He trusted and defended me.

United defender Chris Smalling has defended criticism of his fitness record by insisting he does not need to be "pain free" to play.

"He is the Special One because he wins", Pogba added.

"So the type of football I'm playing as a midfielder, because the team was not doing so well most of the time, is not like at United as we don't have the ball". All in all, it was a good season. "Sometimes he does some extreme things".

"We had never trained it before but it worked out well". He deserves his name.

Having played only one season for Man United earlier in 2011-12, Pogba also felt it was a bit hard to adapt the English conditions though the season went well.

Manchester United broke the world transfer record when they signed the France worldwide from Juventus last summer for £89 million, four years after he left Old Trafford for Turin.

His first season back at the club saw United lift the EFL Cup and the Europa League, with the latter bringing Champions League football back to Old Trafford next season.

The Red Devils will be looking to add further silverware to their trophy cabinet next season and Mourinho has already been busy in the transfer market as he looks to ensure the squad is strong enough to compete.
