Do the Cavs or Warriors have more at stake?

Durant could sign a so-called "non-Bird" extension for up to four years, but a more likely scenario would have him sign another two-year deal, with a player option on the second year (similar to what LeBron James did in Cleveland for several years).

Cleveland had its revenge in 2016 when James won his third NBA Finals after erasing the Warriors' 3-1 lead, winning in seven games. While an argument can be made that Durant and Curry will be in the running for best player in this series, LeBron will take that honor. "So all over the course of the years throughout his journey, I've always had an open-door policy with KD".

In his first NBA Finals game for the Warriors, Durant was nothing short of spectacular.

"He's special in so many ways". "His approach, his routine and just his relentlessness in chasing that greatness is special to watch".

In Game 1, Jordan set the tone against the Portland Trail Blazers by scoring 35 points in the first half, hitting six 3-pointers and turning to the crowd shrugging his shoulders as if to say "I can't explain it either!" He's the best to do it.

While we focus on LeBron, for obvious reasons, he can't do it alone in the leadership category. Still, with LeBron James climbing out of a 3-1 hole in the series, the whole thing is fairly wonderful.

Back in October 2016, at the start of the current National Basketball Association season, 2K predicted that the Cavs and Warriors would reach the Finals, with the Cavs winning the Finals in seven games.

Irving has played great through the Cavs' walloping of the Eastern Conference, as has Kevin Love, who is having his best postseason campaign since joining Cleveland. "I don't know. Ultimately I don't think I can worry about that". For those of you who have followed Curry's career, you know he's been trying to cover up that baby face with some manly facial hair for years, but quite honestly it just wasn't happening.

However, James is defending the title this time around.

"He's one of the most risky guys we have in the (basketball) world already so it makes it even more unsafe when you equip that talent, that skill, with those guys", James said of Durant joining such stars as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

To be honest, these two franchises are the best in the National Basketball Association by far, and the convincing style in which they have reached the finals is a clear proof. I can't go out there and do everything on my own, or I can't go out there and just let my team mates do all the work for me. "It's been working up to this point, so I can't change what I'm doing". "I'm OK with it however it happens". In saying that, he can still have great games.

"That's a part of maturing and getting older in this league is you've got to realize every year you're a year older so you've got to tweak some things", teammate David West said.
