Cosby is charged with drugging and molesting a different woman in 2004 at his Pennsylvania home.

She told the court on Tuesday that she felt her continued friendship with Cosby after the alleged assault was important to the school's athletics department.

The woman accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault acknowledged on Wednesday that she called the comedian dozens of times in the months after the incident, including multiple calls on Valentine's Day, but batted away suggestions of romance.

The defence has argued the two had a romantic relationship, that Ms Constand was not incapacitated, and that the sexual encounter was consensual.

Demonstrating Constand's awareness of Cosby's romantic interest would have little bearing on whether she gave consent during the interaction in question.

"They were good friends". He invited her to dine with him at his home.

Constand says Cosby, whom she considered a mentor, plied her with pills and wine before sexually assaulting her on his couch after she sought his advice about moving to Canada and switching careers. When she woke up, she said, he put lotion on her hand and forced her to touch his genitals.

Agrusa peppered Constand with questions about a night when Constand was on the bed at Cosby's hotel room at Foxwoods Resort Casino as well as at an earlier dinner at Cosby's home that involved alcohol and a lit fireplace.

When asked by the assistant district attorney why she didn't resist or say something, Constand said, "I wasn't able to". He is facing three counts of aggravated indecent assault. The 79-year-old comedian once dubbed America's Dad could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted. "They're your friends; they'll take the edge off, '" she said. She says she shot down the actor's casual advances before she found herself paralyzed and unable to fight him off the night she took pills he said were herbal supplements.

"I think, in general, he may have reached out to get to know me, what I did there as director of operations", Constand said. "This man was a trustee at Temple".

The defense pointed out there were 72 phone calls between Constand and Cosy after the alleged incident, along with inconsistencies between her testimony and her original statements to investigators. Cosby kept still, looking down at the defense table through most of the morning.

Constand's complaint is the only one that has come to trial.

Ms Constand said the mood at the time was friendly. "I don't want that", Constand recalled telling him.

Los Angeles lawyer Angela Agrusa has spent a painstaking hour going over Andrea Constand's old phone records.

"I began slurring my words".

"It was a very big burden on me, but one that I did not have the courage at the time to tell my family", she said. But phone records, he said, show the two talked 72 times that year, with 53 of those calls initiated by Constand.

Constand said she continued to have contact with Cosby because she felt she had to discuss Temple as part of her job.

Even though she is supporting Cosby, Pulliam insists that she is an advocate for women.

Constand, wearing sneakers, a white blouse, khakis and a pale blue blazer, responded that she was "mistaken" or "confused" and overwhelmed when she provided some of the statements.
