Him winning Rookie of the Year at Monday night's first-ever NBA Awards was as inevitable as Drake making a joke about his Instagram exes during the opening monlogue, and even hours before it was announced, it seemed like Sixers Twitter was getting testy in anticipation.

Brogdon was a unanimous selection for the All-Rookie team.

Brogdon was the 2nd round pick (36th overall) in the 2016 NBA Draft averaging 10.2 points per game while leading all rookies in assists (4.2 apg) and steals (1.12 spg). His 3-point percentage (40.4) and free throw percentage (86.5) were both second among rookies. Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon and Phildelphia 76ers forward Dario Saric were unanimously selected in voting done by a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Brogdon's jersey No. 15 now resides alongside Ralph Sampson's No. 50 and Bryant Stith's No. 20, among others, as numbers that have been retired by the Cavaliers.

The last Sixer to win Rookie of the Year was Michael Carter-Williams in 2013-14 and since his departure from Philadelphia, his stock has fallen with both Milwaukee and Chicago. He became just the fifth player in National Basketball Association history to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks for a season, and was the first player in National Basketball Association history to rank in the top-20 for total points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.

"I think he should be Rookie of the Year, for what he has done being drafted in the second round", Kidd said, per Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. ". A lot of times you are not going to fit in; a lot of times you are going to have to skip those parties to get to where you want to be".

Draymond Green, sporting a teal blazer paired with shorts, became the first Warrior to win Defensive Player of the Year. He was also third in field goal percentage (45.7) and fourth in scoring (10.2 ppg). "No one puts in more work than Giannis and we're thrilled for him to receive this honor". Brogdon joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only other Bucks player to earn this honor.

In other Sixers news, an National Basketball Association source said the team doesn't know if 2016 first-rounder Furkan Korkmaz will play in either of next month's summer leagues (Utah or Las Vegas).

Earlier Monday, Antetokounmpo was named to the NBA's All-Defensive 2nd team.
