Despite winning the La Liga title and, last weekend, the Champions League trophy with Real Madrid Morata expressed his disappointment at not having played a major role on the pitch for the Spanish giants last term.

Manchester United will table a second bid for their top transfer target Alvaro Morata, reports say.

According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have already had a bid worth £52.5 million rejected, and are now set to test Real Madrid's resolve by making a £60 million bid. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford, United's best player in the last couple of months of the season, is still just 19 and Antony Martial, who many think will end up as a centre-forward just as Cristiano Ronaldo did, has been too inconsistent.

When questioned about the Colombian, who bagged an assist in the global friendly, Morata said: "He is a great player, I am sure we will be partners next year".

Jose Mourinho has identified Morata as his primary attacking target for this summer after France global Antoine Griezmann confirmed he will not be leaving Atletico Madrid. And it will be interesting to see who leads United's attack come August.

Lopez said: "He does not want a season like this again". I have not yet met the leaders of Real Madrid. Real Madrid exercised their buy-back clause and re-signed Morata for 26.2m in 2016.

"Morata said: "'I want to be playing and to be important to the squad, particularly next year when there is the World Cup.

Speaking to Tele5 after scoring a late equaliser for Spain in Wednesday's evening's 2-2 friendly draw with Colombia in Murcia, Morata was coy over his plans but suggested he could remain at Madrid alongside Rodriguez.

Morata has been linked with a host of big clubs with Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan leading the chase. "But I want to fight for my place here, I would be insane to leave Real Madrid".
