Comey's remarks were his first public comment on his decision to reopen the Clinton email investigation, which came after FBI agents discovered new communications from the former secretary of state.

Whereas many Clinton backers felt vindicated by Comey's revelation last month that the FBI had been investigating President Donald Trump and his associates for their ties to Russian Federation since last July, others were outraged that Comey broke FBI protocol to disclose the existence of new Clinton emails just days before the election, but didn't tell voters that Trump was also under FBI investigation until four months after the election.

The about-turn followed the discovery of missing Clinton emails with classified material on the laptop of a former congressman, on October 27 previous year - barely 10 days before the election.

"It wasn't a flawless campaign. And the evidence for that intervening event is, I think, compelling, persuasive".

FBI Director James Comey is maintaining that he did not treat disclosures about investigations into Hillary Clinton's emails and potential connections between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation differently.

"Ask yourself this, within an hour or two of the Hollywood Access tape being made public, the Russian theft of John Podesta's emails hit WikiLeaks. But honestly, it wouldn't change the decision", he said.

The second reason was that Russian strongman Vladimir Putin employed cyberwar and infowar against America created to destroy Clinton and elect Trump. "And it's clear he interfered to hurt me and help my opponent".

"We've got to walk into the world of really bad", he said he concluded.

She reminded the enthusiastic audience packed with women that she earned 3 million more votes than Republican Donald Trump, who won more Electoral College votes and won the election.

Rep. Adam Schiff, of California, said Comey's decisions to talk publicly about the Clinton probe and not say anything about the Trump investigation was a violation of FBI policy. "The phony Trump/Russia story was an excuse used by the Democrats as justification for losing the election".

Responding to a question on North Korea during the interview, Clinton called for a regional effort. I am very aware of the challenges, the problems, the shortfalls that we had.

Noting that she takes the North Korean threat very seriously, Clinton said she does not believe that the United States alone is able to really put the pressure on this North Korea regime that needs to be placed.

He said he was "very, very interested" in getting to the bottom of the issue, and that he would inform the committee once the Federal Bureau of Investigation did so.

"We should be very careful about giving that away".

"The most important investigation the FBI is now conducting is into Russia's interference in our last presidential election", Sen.

"Syria is another one of those wicked problems which everybody is, you know, desperately trying to figure out how to stop a civil war, how to prevent Iran from increasing its influence, how to prevent Russian Federation from having a real foot hold in the Middle East, which is something that they are desperately seeking", she said.
