New Girl back for one final season

Are you a fan of Zooey Deschanel's New Girl on Fox?

It would've worked either way as the recent Season 6 finale tied up things in a nice bow, with Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) rekindling their romance, Cece (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) expecting, and Winston (Lamorne Morris) calling his father with Aly's (Nasim Pedrad) help.

Last season, "New Girl" averaged a 0.9 rating and 2 million viewers - comparable to other Fox comedies like "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "The Last Man on Earth" that already got picked up.

Season 7 of New Girl, which aired its first episode back in 2011, will reportedly consist of eight episodes, a drastic cut from the usual 22 seen in the series' past three seasons.

New Girl lives on.

The sixth season ended with Nick and Jess kissing - and thus getting back together - just as Jess was planning to move out of the loft.

The decision to end the single-camera comedy with season seven comes as no surprise, as creator Liz Meriwether has been vocal about starting a new chapter. The network has yet to make an official announcement on limited series "Shots Fired", rookie "24: Legacy" and returning shows "Scream Queens" and "Family Guy", though the latter is all but certain to be renewed.

2016-2017 TV Scorecard: Which shows are returning? "The truth is we really, really don't know what the answer is", he said.

"Let's be clear. I have no idea if NG is coming back".
