Jazz eliminate Clippers, get Warriors next

Los Angeles Clippers guard Raymond Felton, left, and Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward go after the ball during the second half in Game 7 of an NBA basketball first-round playoff series, Sunday, April 30, 2017, in Los Angeles.

Griffin was injured during Game 3 of the Clippers' first-round Western Conference playoff series against the Utah Jazz.

George Hill and Derrick Favors contributed 17 points apiece as the Jazz advanced to the second round, where they will meet the Golden State Warriors.

Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles had a few recommendations for the Golden State Warriors after Matt Barnes complained about the lack of nightlife in Salt Lake City. Jamal Crawford added 20 points, and Chris Paul scored 13 points on 6-of-19 shooting from the field and had nine assists.

Chris Paul had 13 points for the Clippers, who were sent packing in the first round for the second straight year.

Ingles' contribution in game seven against the Clippers was the Australian's highest points tally of the series. Current and former players saluted Pierce on social media following the completion of his final game.

This time, the Jazz didn't need the big-shot heroics of Johnson or the presence of Gobert. Rudy Gobert sprained his ankle early in Game 1 and missed the next two games. Unfortunately, this is the same old story for the same old Clippers; they are very good in the regular season, but are very bad in the postseason. The Utah Jazz are averaging 98.9 points on 47.7 percent shooting and allowing 97.7 points on 47.3 percent shooting.

The Jazz won three of four on the road in the opening round, including Game 7 in Los Angeles.

"We've never been in the second round, so now that's another first", Snyder said.

Isaiah Thomas, who flew home to give an emotional speech at the funeral of his sister before flying back late Saturday night, scored 33 points. Jae Crowder finished with 24 points. The Warriors are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 home games, 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Conference Semifinals games and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall. The trio helped steady the team during the regular season when the lineup was ravaged by injuries to Hayward, Hood, Favors and even Hill. In addition to the local radio coverage, Games 1, 3 & 4 will also be heard nationally on ESPN Radio. Jordan fouls him pretty hard here, and Hayward is still able to get the shot up and in, and then make the free throw.

On the way to winning their first title last season, LeBron James and the Cavs took care of the Raptors in the Eastern Conference finals, a series that was tied 2-2 before Cleveland won the final two games.

"The way we look at it, plan on him not to come back", Green said. Hayward has to split a double, and go through DeAndre Jordan, who is a enormous human being. Utah preys on opponents that relax or lose focus on defense at the end of a possession.
