Comey: Clinton-Lynch Tarmac Meeting Showed DOJ Couldn't Credibly Investigate Hillary

Comey will appear before a Senate committee on Wednesday, where he'll face questions on Russian interference in the United States election and why he chose to announce that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was looking again at Clinton's emails just days before the election.

Comey was concerned with the meeting regardless of Lynch's defense, and said that he lived his whole life caring about the credibility and integrity of the criminal justice process.

"My understanding was his role was to print them out as a matter of convenience", he said.

About his handling of the Clinton email investigation, Comey told Blumenthal, "I've got all kinds of rocks thrown at me, and this has been really hard".

FBI Director Comey was the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds!

What led Comey and the FBI to revisit the investigation was the discovery of thousands of emails on a laptop belonging to former Congressman Anthony Weiner, who was married to a top Clinton aide.

"I'm not going to comment on anyone in particular, because if I say no to that, I have to answer succeeding questions", Comey replied. "We have to ask ourselves what is the right thing to do and then do it".

Clinton and her supporters maintain it did.

The FBI began a counterintelligence investigation last July into whether Russian Federation had coordinated with Trump campaign associates to influence the American election, but he did not disclose that until a hearing in March, after Trump had been elected and taken office.

Blumenthal also pressed the FBI director on whether he thought a special prosecutor should be appointed to handle the investigation into possible Russian ties to the Trump campaign.
