Although the avid Snapchat user later took down the image, Williams has confirmed to NBC News that she is expecting a baby this fall. This also brings forward the fact that Serena was pregnant when she won the Australian Open - her 23rd Grand Slam.

This will be her first child with fiancé and co-founder of Reddit, Alexis Ohanian.

After Serena deleted her Snapchat post, everyone started speculating if she was actually pregnant.

Williams' 23 Grand Slam singles titles are a record for the Open era, which began in 1968. However, it is to note too that Williams withdrew from the NP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California over claims of a knee injury. World number two Serena Williams is expected to return to the top of the WTA rankings next Monday as two-time Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber's points of winning the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in her home country of Stuttgart, are expected to come off. Serena Williams hits a return against Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic during their 2016 US Open Women's Singles semifinal match at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in NY.

Novak told Reuters that Williams meant to sit out the remainder of the 2017 season and return next year.

Williams announced their impending nuptials on Reddit, and Ohanian doubled down on his Facebook page, linking to her Reddit post and adding, "She said yes".

Belgium's Kim Clijsters came out of retirement at the age of 26 after having a child and won three Grand Slam titles.

The great Australian player herself took time away from the pro tour when she married, and again after she had her first child, on both occasions coming back to win multiple Major titles.
