Raiders want resolution on Marshawn Lynch before draft

The Oakland Raiders have been linked to Marshawn Lynch in a possible trade with the Seattle Seahawks for weeks now, but they're reportedly only interested in acquiring him on their own terms.

"At some point you'd like to know and prior to the draft is that point", McKenzie said Friday during a media conference to preview the draft.

"At some point, you would like to know", McKenzie said. "But the door is still open". But, who knows after that? "We're going to need to dig in, compete, and be as strong as we can each week". "But the door is still open".

But as McKenzie pointed out, it's not as simple as that. That's why Lynch is a good option.

In an analysis by Jared Dubin, who covers the NFL for CBS Sports, the Raiders' schedule over the final two months is considered to be among the five toughest in the league.

Knowing whether they'll have Lynch in their backfield when mini-camp starts, though, could affect where the Raiders select a running back in the draft, which starts Thursday.

The 30-year-old Lynch would fill a need as a powerful back with, unlike Washington and Richard, plenty of experience.

The Raiders have met with the powerful running back and Oakland native.

Raiders coach Jack Del Rio said the meeting was "part of the process" of getting to know the player, and if he would fit with the team.

"We want good linebacker play".

Those "impactful" players were tight end Jared Cook, wide receiver/kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson, offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse, and quarterback EJ Manuel (ok maybe not this last one so much). "And if it's Marshawn, whoever, we're going to do it".

The latest piece of information comes from the settlement of the civil lawsuit filed by Amelia Molitor against Mixon, which was resolved with a joint statement issued by Molitor and Mixon.

General manager Reggie McKenzie is seemingly making a deadline of the draft, which kicks off on April 27.

"He came off very well and explained each and every thing", McKenzie said.

A week ago, there was one report that Lynch had "signed" with the Raiders, and when that was proven to be premature, other reports said that at least the two sides were close.
