Mike Mayock: Mitchell Trubisky most ready quarterback in 2017 draft class

As the NFL Draft approaches, the Steelers haven't dismissed selecting a quarterback, either to serve as Ben Roethlisberger's successor or to provide competition on the depth chart. The only player in major college football with both 700 yards receiving and 700 yards rushing last season, Samuel ran a 4.31 40 at the NFL Combine, the third-fastest time there.

Lynch said there are certain media members with whom personnel officials like him speak, and because of that they may have some insight into what certain teams are thinking in the run-up to the draft, which begins Thursday.

"I think most of this quarterback class should be later down the line, whether it's first round or second round", NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said recently. As usual for a rebuilding team like the Bears, this is a crucial event, especially considering the draft hasn't been kind to Chicago in the past four years. It's not a great QB class, but the 49ers could easily spend a high pick on the position. In fact, it would be a surprise if Clemson's Deshaun Watson, North Carolina's Mitchell Trubisky, and Texas Tech's Patrick Mahomes slipped into the second. Clearly there is a player they like. But that doesn't mean Trubisky won't end up as the best pick of the draft. "So I think that's where most of the mistakes are made".

After edge-rusher Myles Garrett, widely projected to go to the Cleveland Browns with the No. 1 overall pick, there does not seem to be much separating the next dozen prospects on the board at a number of different positions. Either way, you better believe this August and/or September owners will be targeting a few rookies to draft for their team in 2017. I think something similar is happening with Webb. It is a team option so the player has no say.

The 24-year-old Bolles is already older than many players still in the draft, thanks to a two-year mission for the LDS Church in Colorado Springs. You've got to be able to use him creatively in your passing game. "If you don't have a quarterback, you're probably going to leave your team short at some point".
